And neither was global cooling 30 years ago. What is a hoax that mankind has much to do with it. It was warmer back around 1300 than it is today, Of course, maybe it was the sword battles that did it. 😉

Yes the earth has natural cycles of cooling and heating. I think it has to do with sun spots and solar flares. But the human footprint of last two hundred years has never been a factor in that natural process. There are now holes in the ozone and particulate atmospheric pollution disallows the sun’s heat to bounce off our planet as would otherwise be normal.

Maybe but still too cold to farm in Greenland, as we used to.
There just not, and I think never will be, enough data to say that it’s our fault. That doesn’t mean clean air and water isn’t important, I dislike burning rivers too, but it’s not enough data to justify starving millions to correct.

No carl, the Vikings settled there in about 1200 or so, farmed much as they did in Scandinavia at the time. That’s where the exploration to North America came from. It started when erik the Red was banished fro Iceland, and so he started a new colony. All true, my friend. It lasted about 200 or so years until it got too cold.

Do you think perhaps active volcanic action might do the same thing except on a grander scale, Carl? The particulate matter from volcanic activity has brought planes down in recent years. Have you any studies comparing the tons of pollutants from volcanoes and forest fires and such to the tons of pollutants being added to the atmosphere by mankind? I don’t and the other problem I have is that nobody has told me what is the normal temperature of the earth. Are we above norm or are we below norm and the present time. I can’t take data from the past 100 years and extrapolate such figures so it seems an impossible idea to make a case for it; at least in the doomsday scenario afforded. I can promise you one thing that we all know. It is in the interest of this government and many rich elites to take control over all of manufacturing and all consumerism to gain almost complete control of the people’s lives. If you believe them, then sell yourself into slavery; if not, resist these folks to their face. Had the Obama Carbon Tax gone through, Al Gore would have been the world’s first trillionaire. I believe next to nothing our government and their ‘experts’ are telling us as it is all wrapped up in ideologies and personal wealth and control of the regular folks. I see you are not so skeptical , , , and the telling of the big lie, long enough will eventually become a ‘fact’ and a de fide teaching of the secular world . . . whether based on lies or not. The majority now believe as you do and I guess I fear them far more than I do driving about in an SUV and have my grill on for a Saturday barbecue.

Oh yes the great volcanic eruptions with ash in the atmosphere has also altered temp of earth in history of the planet. The hot air from Washington DC also contributes to global warming. I agree that we are fed big lies(although human foot print not one of them) by government for one and that the megabanks and megacorps and industrial military complex have more power than sovereign nations and the right to vote is an illusion of democracy. I read in TIME mag that they have developed a hand held gun for infantrymen @$24,000 each ! I remember the visionary study of consumer manipulation , The Hidden Persuaders. by Vance Packard, 1954.

Indeed a lot of money was spent in the 50’s by our military developing tactics and methods of controlling how and what we think; not lest of these has been the Rand Corporation’s development of the Delphi Technique. Variations of that type of manipulation of the masses has never abated. That want you to surrender your perception to their pre-conceived perception and gain more adherents. They have been highly successful in their endeavors. Our footprint is larger than it was and yet our air is cleaner in the US that it has since the days when there were hardly any inhabitants here. If they were serious about clean air and water they would start in China and Malaysia and other poor countries who do not have regulations on pollution. The smog we suffered in the early part of my life in the big cities has nearly disappeared entirely. But open your wallet, vote for the power grabbers, lower our standard of living and sell your freedom for a pot of lies. There seems to be one theme only in all these things: control, money, destruction of human rights and the government takeover of private property. One or the other seems always in play. So we should be stewards of the planet and teach other countries how we got our house in order but that is not their agenda; they are looking for something much more and it benefits only them. Before long you will have to set your thermostat at a government set level and utilize an outhouse with a compost toilet. No toilet paper though as we are destroying the rainforests though the blooms of carbon dioxide converted to oxygen seems unaffected at present . . . especially since most of our oxygen is provided by blooms of algae that always flourish when the Carbon Dioxide levels rise: God has built in a method where the Earth is as resilient as is the human body. You get cut or a scar and the body repairs itself. The same happens with the earth.

Hi Neo, the Middle Age warm period was not a global phenomenon. While it is true that some regions were warmer during that period, it is also true that other regions were much cooler like the tropical pacific. So when the global temp is averaged out druing the MA warm period it comes out to something like the early 20th century’s temperature, which means it was not at all warmer at that period as compared to the present day. In fact, it is much warmer now than it was then.
Also, the causes of the MA warming are fairly well known. High solar radiation. less volcanic activity, and ocean circulation patterns all increased warming.

The Pentagon and the CIA are making preparations on how to fight a war in the long range future adjusting to rising sea levels and the loss of natural resources for industrial use due to land loss. Suggest you google how low lying Bangladesh is in an absolute panic as is already affecting them. The sea level of south Florida has been measured to have risen 8 inches since 1920.

Yes, and my father’s house was on the beach in Daytona. After some bad hurricanes the beach front wend down to about 30% of what it was. Over the next 10 years the beach has built itself back up and they are now at or above the level of beachfront that was there when they bought the house in the 60’s. Ebb and flow of such things is not uncommon.

Yes indeed. As the “experts” were claiming that the beaches were gone forever as the consequence of global warming slews of companies sprang up with all sorts of plans to make themselves rich and replenish the sand on the beaches. A few tests were performed and they were worthless. But simply waiting for mother nature to work her magic the beaches are now better than ever once again.

The most frightening aspect of our military is that it is a volunteer army in which lies its strength and its weakness. Strength because that are consummate warriors and the best trained in the world and the weakness being that their moral is the lowest it has been as they have been fighting non-stop for over a decade and they are always living in anxiety and have done tour duty after tour duty. There was a time when all people served and we knew the life of a soldier as they were our fathers and our brothers and friends. Today, they are isolated and they do not feel like part of this society and we don’t feel like were connected very well with them either. Its a scary time.

I read a most disturbing piece the other day that spoke about all of this. The writer says that people come up and thank them for their service all the time. But because of the absolute disconnect of the way we live our lives and they live theirs it “sounds hollow” to the serviceman. Time to start thinking about taking some of the stress level off these guys who have been fighting without stop year after year and not simply winning and coming home to cheers and thanks from the country.

I think the solution really is, and i agree with your source, to stop screwing around. if it matters, go blow the hell out it until nothing moves, and come home, sowing with salt is optional in these environmentally conscious days.
What we’ve been ding since Korea is simply stupid. it took Islam about 500 years to conquer Afghanistan, and Alexander was too smart to try.
if we have to do it again in ten years, well so be it, but we won’t.

A lot to that: but unfortunately we have what we have. A professional army that is at its lowest levels since the end of the second world war. They are tired and doing tour after tour in unbearable circumstances and they do it courageously and professionally. But with Russia, N. Korea, Iran, China etc. flexing their muscles it seems a particularly weak moment for us to stand up against any more foes than we already have. And the day will come for each of those unless something very big happens to put an end to it. These peoples smell blood, they all have nuclear weapons or soon will and they have no conscious about using them.

I agree, and in fact that’s my point. It’s simply time to kill our enemies, once and for all, and once we start doing that, some will think twice before trying us on. Force is useless unless one is prepared to use it.
We just ran an exercise that featured a B-52 strike in Jordan, but does anybody really think this administration would go there? So what’s the point?

I guess it is out of the question that they might be using scare tactics now that everything else has failed. They will step up the lies. The Ice is building up in Antartica and the ice flows and the poor polar bears have been doing fine; their populations increasing. There is not any media hype or method too low for them to use to sell the call for disaster mode and the need for the government to get involved. they first try to appeal to our soft hearts for the poor animals who are losing the habitat and when that is proven false they move on to rising oceans or mega storms that will wipe out humanity. So they are moving from gaining sympathy to scaring the population into submission. Nothing new here; just a different manner of getting their power grab done. Instead of Jews we have singled out the rich, greedy fat cat and only the government can stop them.
